Composer and cellist Catherine Bent has devoted herself to choro and related genres including forró, samba, and baião. Each of the 10 tracks tap a different Brazilian rhythmic tradition, with influences of jazz and playful improvisation. The joyful recording was made in Rio de Janeiro with some of the top players in the choro world. Catherine Bent's lyrical and rhythmic cello is featured throughout.
